On the contrary, there was great controversy between the supporters of a ―social market economy‖. // The question was settled by the first Bundestag election in August 1949, and the voters decided for the course of the ―social market economy‖. // There were thus two fundamental reforms which made it possible for the Federal Republic of Germany to become one of the world‘s foremost industrial nations; the currency reform and the economic reform. // These two factors apparently provided the solution to a problem that many countries are face with today, namely, creating adequate prosperity for all in a situation of an excess of labor and a shortage of capital. //
