Some plastic reservoirs must be removed and the adapter attached directly to the cylinder。Make sure the pressure tank has the proper quantity and type of fluid in it。Connect the bleeder hose to the adapter。If the vehicle has a metering valve it must be help open when bleeding the front disc brakes。Pressurize the bleeder to 15-20 psi。Open the valve at the adapter and check for leaks。Open the first valve in the sequence and allow fluid to flow until there are no more air bubbles。 Close the bleeder and move to the next wheel。
When finished, vent the pressure from the bleeder and close the adapter valve before removing the adapter hose。 Otherwise brake fluid will spray everywhere when the hose is disconnected。Figure 2-13: Pressure bleeding。 Gravity bleeding works well with brake systems that don’t use residual pressure check valves。 In gravity bleeding the technician is free to go on with other work while the brakes bleed themselves。 Here’s how it’s done:Clean the master cylinder cap and fill with the proper type of brake fluid。
Open the bleeder valves at all 4 wheels。Let the cylinders and calipers leak until no more bubbles appear。 This will take anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes on most systems。 If after 15 minutes, no fluid is flowing push the pedal down and release several times to get some fluid into the lines。Check the fluid level in the master cylinder often。As a steady stream of fluid flows from a bleeder, close it off。 In most cases, the way the pedal feels will indicate the presence of air in the system。 If the pedal is low has too much free travel it can mean that there is a significant amount of air in the hydraulic system。
