When the flow stops, close the bleeder。 Tell your helper that you have the bleeder closed。 If the helper releases the pedal before the bleeder is closed, air will be drawn back into the cylinder。Repeat as necessary until only fluid flows from the bleeder and then move to the wheel in the sequence。Be careful not to run the master cylinder out of fluid。 If you do you will have to repeat the bleeding procedure。When all wheels have been bled, correct the fluid level in the master cylinder and test for proper brake operation。
Vacuum bleeding is a one man operation that can be performed fairly quickly provided a hand held vacuum pump with a brake bleeding kit is available。 To vacuum bleed brakes use the following procedure:Clean the master cylinder cap and fill with the proper type of brake fluid。Attach the vacuum pump to the bleeder screw of the first wheel to be bled。Apply 15-20”Hg vacuum to the bleeder。Open the bleeder and allow the fluid and/or air to flow into the cup。 If vacuum drops to near zero, close the bleeder and pump the vacuum back up。
Repeat as necessary until only a clear stream of fluid flows when the bleeder is opened。Move to the next wheel in the sequence。 One of the best ways to bleed brakes is pressure bleeding。 This method will allow one technician to flush all the old fluid out of a brake system, refill it with fresh clean fluid, and purge out all trapped air in one step。 However, it requires access to a pressure bleeder and different adapters for different vehicles。 Here are the basic steps in pressure bleeding:Install the correct adapter onto the master cylinder reservoir。
