郭小江，男， 1967年出生于江西宜春。1983年考入宜春师专数学系，1985年专升本至江西师范大学就读，1987年考入兰州大学攻读硕，1994年攻读博，数学博士后，教授，主要从事半群的研究。

完成学术论文60余篇，其中20余篇被国际著名的检索系统SIC收入，50余篇发表在国际性期刊上，20篇发表在如《中国科学》，《数学学报》，《数学进展》等国家一级刊物上，完成专著一部。

1999年5月博士后出站以来，一直为所在大学本科生以及教学工作主力。主讲过了“高等数学”，“近世代数”，“拓扑学”，“离散数学”和“线性代数选讲”等本科生课程；“基础代数学”，“半群代数理论”，“半群拓扑理论”，“语言与自由半群理论”，“半群簇理论”等课程，先后指导16位（6位已经毕业，10位在读），有3位毕业考上国内名牌大学的博士生。教学效果好，受到了授课学生的一致好评，由于教学成绩突出，2003年获得江西师范大学熊智明奖教金。

科研工作主要从事半群理论以及环论的研究。1996年以来，发表学术论文40余篇，其中16被国际著名检索系统收入，20余篇发表在“中国科学”，“科学通报”，“数学学报”，“数学进展”等国内一级学术刊物上。解决多个公开问题，这些问题研究abundant半群以及compact半群结构基础性工作，得到了专家一致好评。特别是，abundant半群的工作现在已经成为从事这一领域研究的重要参考文献。abundant半群承担了国家或省部级科研课题4项，厅级科研课题2项。2001-2002年度江西省新世纪百千万人才工程；2001-2003，2004-2006年度江西省高等学校中青年学科带头人。获1998-1999年度甘肃省高等学校科技进步奖二等奖；2001年甘肃省科技进步奖三等奖；2004年江西省自然科学奖三等奖。多次应邀参加国际学术会议；2003、2005年先后两次应香港中文大学数学系邀请赴香港访问。
